GPS is a wonderful service that allows the location of a wireless device to be picked up via satellite. The acronym GPS is short for Global Positioning System which is basically what it is. It is a system’s position within the globe. Most newer cellular devices now come equipped with GPS for safety reasons so that calls to 911 can be traced and help can be sent even if the victim can no longer speak. Here are two other uses for GPS on a person’s wireless smartphone:
Driving Directions: The most common use of GPS on wireless smartphones is driving directions. With GPS users can be directed via computerized cell phone voice on where to go to get to a specific location. All the user has to do is punch in the address where they wish to drive and the GPS picks up the current location and figures out a route to get to the new destination. The computer voice will then direct the driver right to the front door!
Child Location: Parents can use GPS to keep track of where their teens are with the cell phones. Family Locater is one of the many applications that allow an account holder to monitor where a particular phone moves. It is a great way to keep track of the children who use the phones. Can’t get enough? There’s more: How to Locate Mobile Phone Location
