Laptops and PDAs are two of the most popular electronic devices in use today. A laptop is a small computer that can literally fit into a person’s lap. A PDA is a Personalized Digital Assistant. There are advantages and disadvantages to using both.

Laptops are great because they can be taken on long trips and they can be used just like desktop computers but without the extra bulk. They are perfect for traveling. The down side of owning a laptop is that they over heat very quickly. They are also very tiny and typing is very easily cramped which is not so good for the student or the frequent writer.

There is more than one type of PDA. Some come with cell phone service attached and some do not. The benefit to using a PDA with cell phone service attached is obviously the cell phone service. The benefit to using a PDA that does not have a cell phone service attached is the size. People who enjoy having a pocket sized computer will love a PDA. The disadvantages to having a PDA are the extremely small keypads, the restricted operating systems, and the incompatibility of certain software.

Both laptops and PDAs are excellent devices to have. It is up to you to weigh the pros and cons and decide which one is right for you.
